Responsibilities:
The Global Risk Oversight group is a newly formed department within Risk Management, created specifically to provide independent validation of all AXP's risk models and develop an independent view of AXP's credit decisions and portfolio trends in order to improve the quality of risk outcomes, strengthen long term shareholder value and satisfy regulatory institutions.
Job requirements:
1)Provide leadership in reviewing the logical and conceptual soundness of market models used in risk decisioning across AMEX.
2)Maintain model inventory and identify key models
3)Maintain model validation methodology
4)Review logical and conceptual soundness of models
5)Review model inputs for appropriateness and data integrity
6)Perform ongoing model evaluation
7)Review model documentation
8)Oversee model change management
9)Oversee model implementation

Required Qualifications:
1)4-6 years of previous experience in market risk analysis and/or operational risk analysis.
2)Good familiarity with operational risk modeling
3)Strong analytical skills
4)Prior experience working with external market data and analysis tools
5)Post graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in statistics, decision science, economics, econometrics or closely related fields. Expertise in multivariate analysis and statistics / econometric modeling is expected.
6)Experience in applying advanced statistical and/or quantitative techniques to solve business problems is preferred.
7)Knowledge of basic models for quantifying market and operational risks, including Value-At-risk models.
8)Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business process and project execution. Desire to innovate and work on challenging projects with a fun and cohesive team.
9)Experience in effectively communicating complex analytical results to business partners and senior management.
10)Proven track record of thought leadership translated into results.
